Jaime Colín
Jaime Colín (Mexico City, 1979) is a visual artist who graduated from the Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts at the Morelense Center for the Arts (2002-06). He has a Master's Degree in Visual Arts and Design from UNAM (2013-2015).
Through drawing, painting and digital graphics, his work focuses on cartography as a representation method to explore astronomy, ufology, landscape and its transformations. He is currently interested in working with the concept of the Anthropocene to demonstrate the damage caused by human actions on the Earth's surface. Among his most recent solo exhibitions are; Geological times, Al Cazahuate Gallery, Yautepec Morelos (2023), A Cielo Abierto, Victoria Gallery, Morelense Center of the Arts, Cuernavaca, Morelos (2019); Bauxite, Carrillo Gil Art Museum, Mexico City (2019); Satellite Landscape, Alegoría Cultural Center, Cuernavaca, Morelos (2018); Reconstructed landscape, Jardines de México Gallery (2016), Deconstructed horizon, Jardín Borda, Cuernavaca, Morelos (2016). His awards and distinctions include Special Distinction at the UNAM Visual Arts Biennial (2016); He received 1st. place, acquisition prize at the Fifth National Biennial of Visual Arts Miradas (2012) and later 2nd place in the Sixth edition (2014); He was a beneficiary of the FONCA National Young Creators scholarship (editions: 200809, 2011-12 and 2014-15). Member of the National System of Art Creators, System of Support for Creation and Cultural Projects, (2018-2021 and 2023-2026).
